What causes chronic suppurative otitis media?

Acute suppurative otitis media that is not treated in time or improperly treated and poor body resistance are the reasons why acute otitis media migrates into chronicity. Chronic lesions in the nasal cavity, sinuses and pharynx are also associated with this disease. The pathogenesis lies in the obstruction of the ventilation system of the middle ear cavity, which is connected to the nasopharynx via the eustachian tube. There are also many narrow channels in the mastoid cavity of the middle ear, and when the acute inflammation is not completely healed, the edema of the tissues in these channels and the formation of granulation aggravate the ventilation dysfunction of the middle ear, leading to the development of chronic suppurative otitis media.
