How effective is the compress treatment and what are the adverse effects? How many treatments are needed?

A few patients may experience redness, swelling and itching at the irradiated area after treatment, which generally disappears with some ointment. However, a very small number of patients may have local skin scarring changes after treatment, especially those with keloid body, there is a possibility of significant scarring. If the skin is damaged or infected, the dressing should not be applied temporarily. Hot water scalding and scratching of the affected area during treatment are prohibited to avoid infection or aggravation of symptoms. For skin-limited capillary hemangioma, the cure rate can reach 75-100%, but the earlier the treatment, the better the effect and the smaller the scar. Depending on the size and depth (thickness) of the hemangioma, the treatment requires 2 irradiations or even several times. The residual lesions of a few hemangiomas may gradually increase in size after irradiation, and may be irradiated again or treated with laser therapy. The treatment of scarring just depends on the thickness and freshness of the scar. Some 2-3 times, some need more than 7-8 times. The interval between each session is 2-3 months.
