Difference between allergy and cold

The difference between colds and allergies is as follows: 1. Colds are transient, usually viral infections or upper respiratory tract infections with secondary bacterial infections, and its symptoms can manifest as systemic toxic symptoms, such as fever, chills, headache, and generalized muscle aches. There are also local cata symptoms, such as runny nose, sneezing and coughing, but they do not recur over a period of time. 2. Allergic rhinitis is not the same, after exposure to allergens, there may be rapid nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose symptoms during pollen season, spring or fall mold season, etc.. This symptom is mainly a local respiratory cicatrization symptom, rarely there will be fever, chills, general muscle aches and pains, and there will be no general toxic symptoms, so it has the characteristics of temporality, seasonality and recurrence. In contrast, if a patient with allergic rhinitis is free from allergens, such as allergy to cold air or allergy to low temperature, then the patient’s symptoms will be relieved without medication if the indoor temperature rises. If the patient is exposed to cold air again, he or she may have another attack, so there is recurrence, which is a characteristic of allergy, while cold is a one-time event.
