What are androgens?

Androgens are sex hormones that are found in both male and female bodies, but androgen levels are much higher in men than in women. In males, androgens are produced mainly by the testes, while in females they are produced mainly by the ovaries and the adrenal cortex. Androgens promote the maturation of the male sex organs and secondary sexual characteristics, and maintain normal libido and reproductive function, but too much or too little of them can have an effect on the body. If a man is deficient in androgens, he will experience sexual dysfunction, decreased libido, and loss of secondary sexual characteristics such as a weak laryngeal node, scanty beard, and loss of body hair. In women, since androgen levels are low, the symptoms of androgen deficiency are not obvious, but when there is too much of it, symptoms such as acne, hair loss, hirsuteness, menstrual disorders, etc. will appear, and in serious cases, fertility will be affected. If there are symptoms of androgen deficiency or excess, it is recommended to consult a doctor for a complete examination to determine the cause and treatment. At the same time, we should pay attention to a balanced diet, regular work and rest, and moderate exercise.
