Patients with rheumatoid arthritis often present with destruction of the metacarpophalangeal joints, ulnar deviation deformity of the metacarpophalangeal joints, dislocation of the extensor tendons, and dysfunction. Metacarpophalangeal joint function is restored by metacarpophalangeal joint replacement.
