Why women over forty should not take the emergency contraceptive pill

The emergency contraceptive pill is not recommended for people over 40 years of age who are prone to breast disease or uterine fibroids, etc. and whose body hormone levels themselves fluctuate considerably. Emergency contraceptive pill is an emergency measure after no contraceptive measure or contraceptive failure, and it cannot be used as a regular contraceptive means. It can lead to disruption of hormone level in women’s body after taking it, which can lead to irregular menstrual cycle or even infertility in serious cases. When women are around 40 years old, their ovarian function starts to decline and taking emergency contraceptives may lead to a series of adverse reactions such as endocrine disorders and amenorrhea. In addition, the blood viscosity of women over 40 years old will increase, and emergency contraceptive pills, as a highly effective progestin, may easily cause thrombophilia after taking them. Therefore, it should be taken with caution by women of any age. Therefore, women are advised to take condom contraception when having intercourse as much as possible to avoid unwanted pregnancy.
