When the inflammation of the appendix is severe, such as acute suppurative appendicitis or gangrenous appendicitis, the whole appendix is often involved, so that the appendix forms purulent inflammatory exudate, and bacteria enter the portal system through the appendiceal vein retrograde, through the superior mesenteric vein, which often causes portal phlebitis, and the patient develops high fever, nausea, often accompanied by abdominal pain, chills and other clinical symptoms, and as the inflammation of the portal vein worsens, it can involve the liver to form bacterial liver abscess, which is an important cause of liver abscess formation. Liver abscess is often characterized by high fever, chills, and pain in the liver area as the main clinical manifestations, and general antibiotic treatment is not effective, requiring intervention to continue anti-inflammatory treatment after the pus from the liver abscess is extracted, with a certain chance of death.
