What is a hare lip?

Hare lip is a folk saying, medically known as cleft lip or cleft lip and palate, which is a cleft that occurs on the upper lip due to congenital developmental defects, and some children have a combination of cleft palate. Cleft lip is a polygenic genetic disorder that may be related to genetic and environmental factors. Cleft lip is usually detected at 22 to 24 weeks of gestation during a macrosomia ultrasound.
