Dosage of Schisandra chinensis plus Atractylodes macrocephala preparation

The dosage of Fructus Schisandrae chinensis with Atractylodes macrocephala is decided according to the patient’s condition and physique. However, the general decoction dosage of Fructus Schisandrae chinensis and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae is 2~6g and 6~12g respectively.
Fructus schisandrae chinensis has the effects of astringency (astringent consolidation), benefiting qi and generating fluids (promoting fluid production by replenishing qi), etc. It is also used in the treatment of chronic cough and asthma. It is used in the treatment of prolonged cough and asthma, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with slight movement), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up), seminal emission, and spermatorrhea. It should not be taken by patients with external surface evil (evil qi on the surface of the muscles) or internal solid heat.
Atractylodes macrocephalus is used for treating weakness of spleen qi (weakness of spleen qi), abdominal distension and diarrhea, phlegm (pathological products formed by impaired water-liquid metabolism), edema, and spontaneous sweating. It is not advisable to take a large amount of a single herb for conditions such as deficiency of Yin and fire, or deficiency of Blood and Blood heat.
