If a patient has a splinter in the sole of the foot, it can usually be removed at home with small tweezers; if it cannot be taken out, the splinter must be removed and treated in the emergency surgery department of a specialized hospital. The surgeon will first evaluate the site and depth of the puncture in the sole of the foot and the presence of swollen tissue, infection and septicemia around it, and choose the best location for the needle to be picked out. If the site is relatively deep and the symptoms are relatively serious, or if there is obvious infection around the site, alcohol or iodophor can be applied to the periphery for disinfection, and after disinfection, an incision will be made and removed, which will be fixed with medical tape and the patient will be instructed to take certain anti-inflammatory drugs orally to prevent infection.
