Does pinching during a seizure work?

Many patients’ family members pinch the patient’s “Renzhong” point when they find a grand mal seizure, trying to stop the seizure as soon as possible, sometimes even pinching blood, the seizure still does not stop. It is also true that some family members find that the patient’s seizure stops after pinching for a while. But have you ever thought: if you don’t pinch the person, the patient will stop the seizure in the same time. There is no scientific evidence to support that pinching can shorten the duration of seizures in epileptic patients. Seizures are caused by abnormal brain discharges. For grand mal seizures that have already started, there is nothing that can be done to stop them except medication at the moment, and the seizures will only stop when the brain discharges end. Therefore, we hope that family members and relatives and friends, in case of grand mal seizures, will not do anything meaningless and detrimental to the patient’s health, except taking appropriate measures to protect the patient’s safety.
