How to find the prostate in the anus

Transanal prostate finger examination is an invasive and somewhat painful examination. It is performed with the examinee kneeling in a chest and knee position, or in a lateral position with knees bent, keeping the perianal area relaxed. The examiner wears sterile gloves, fully lubricates the fingers, and lubricates the perianal area. The finger enters the rectum from the anus and after advancing 4-6 cm the prostate can be touched. The prostate is felt on palpation as a slightly tough mass of tissue with elevated sides and a central depression. This test is painful and is not the first choice for routine prostate examination.
