Can ultrasound detect gallbladder cancer?

Ultrasound can provide initial screening for occupying lesions in the gallbladder, but cannot be used as a diagnostic test for gallbladder cancer. If suspicious gallbladder occupancy is detected under ultrasound, pathologic biopsy can subsequently be performed by ultrasound-guided puncture cholecystocentesis. The gold standard for the diagnosis of gallbladder cancer is pathologic biopsy, which can be performed through fine needle aspiration biopsy, endoscopic biopsy, biopsy during cholangiography, surgical biopsy, etc., to clarify the nature of the suspected gallbladder occupancy and so on. Physical examination can also be assisted to determine whether there is jaundice, emaciation, enlargement or pressure pain at the gallbladder, etc.; blood tests, including liver and kidney function tests, and tumor marker tests for abnormalities, etc.; and other imaging tests, including CT, PET-CT, and cholangiography. Comprehensive judgment helps to further diagnose the disease. It is recommended that the relevant people should consult the doctor in time and conduct comprehensive examination and judgment under the doctor’s guidance, so that the diagnosis can be clarified as soon as possible and active treatment can be carried out.
