The procedure of anal fissure surgery

Anal fissures are a very common condition, especially in young patients, and occur for reasons related to habitual constipation. The most effective treatment for anal fissures is surgery, which can be performed under local or epidural anesthesia, usually in the lithotomy position with disinfection of the area, spreading of the towel, and removal of the ulcerated surface of the fissure. However, care should be taken to avoid damage to the adjacent tissues or deep sphincter, and attention should be paid to hemostasis during the operation to avoid postoperative bleeding, and to apply hemostatic gauze and local pressure dressing to the postoperative wound. In the acute period after surgery, anti-infective medications should be given, commonly metronidazole and penicillin sodium, and regular dressing changes of the incision should be paid attention to.
