How long does it take to heal from anal fissure surgery

How long it takes to heal from anal fissure surgery needs to be evaluated based on the severity of the fissure, the surgical method and other factors, and cannot be generalized. If the patient’s condition is mild and the fissure wound is less than 1 cm, anal fissure excision can be performed under local anesthesia, and the pain can usually be relieved in about 1 week. However, full recovery may take 3-4 weeks due to the presence of more bacteria around the anus and the presence of bowel irritation, which can affect wound healing. If the fissure is more serious and the fissure is deeper or even involves the sphincter, it may take about 1 month for the patient to get relief, or even several months for a longer period of time, depending on the patient’s maintenance after surgery. The daily maintenance after anal fissure is particularly important, during the repair period must avoid eating spicy and stimulating food, eat more fruits and vegetables rich in fiber, if necessary, oral lactulose to avoid or slow down the occurrence of constipation.
