Awareness and prevention of anal fissures

Anal fissures are small, painful, easy to heal, and recurring. Anal fissure is a small fissure in the shape of a pike or oval formed by a longitudinal fracture of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the anal canal, often occurring in the posterior and anterior middle of the anus, with the posterior part of the anus being the most common. Patients often have constipation, and when relieving stool, there is a tear-like sensation in the anus, and there may be a small amount of blood dripping or blood stained on toilet paper after stool. It is one of the common diseases in anorectology, with high incidence and heavy pain, which can be cured but easily recurred, and its incidence is second only to hemorrhoids among anal disorders, ranking as one of the three major diseases in the anal area. According to Chinese medicine, “blood heat, intestinal dryness and constipation” are the main causes of anal fissures, so the principle of treatment is to facilitate bowel movement, relieve pain and promote the healing of fissures. For the prevention of anal fissures, you should keep your bowels open and develop the habit of having a regular bowel movement once a day, so that the stool will not be dry and the pain can be reduced. At the same time, drugs and food can be used to soften the stool, reduce the stimulation of the anal canal by defecation, and reduce the pain during defecation. If there is a dry hard stool formed, do not force the discharge, you can choose warm saline enema or paraffin oil enema, or use the open plug into the anus, smooth defecation. The long time pain after the fissure is mainly caused by the spasm of the anal sphincter, the hot water bath can relieve the spasm of the sphincter and eliminate the pain through the physical effect of warmth. Women should pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, do not participate in heavy physical labor. During pregnancy, they should eat more fruits and vegetables to prevent constipation. During labor, attention should be paid to protecting the perineum and anus to avoid lacerations and injuries.
