Is vulvar leukoplakia incurable?

Vulvar leukoplakia, often referred to as vulvar sclerosing moss, can be effectively treated to control the symptoms and is generally not life-threatening and not incurable. Vulvar sclerosing moss is a lesion of thinning, hypopigmented white vulvar and perianal skin caused by vulvar epidermal atrophy, hyperkeratosis and reduced melanocytes. The main manifestations are vulvar itching and burning sensation. Most patients can get relief from their symptoms with effective treatment, but there is a possibility of recurrence. Commonly used drugs include testosterone propionate, progesterone, clobetasol, etc. Focused ultrasound and fractional laser, which are more widely used nowadays, can also be used for treatment.
