If you have rib pain on the right side, you can register for general surgery first, or you can register for respiratory or thoracic surgery. This is because rib pain on the right side is not very typical and the associated disease cannot be clearly identified based on this symptom. If such patients are seen in general surgery, they can identify whether there are problems with the liver, bile or gastroduodenum in the right upper abdomen, and can be investigated by ultrasound or gastroscopy to check whether there are problems with the digestive organs in the right upper abdomen. In addition, such patients can be enrolled in the respiratory or thoracic surgery departments, and either of these two departments can be enrolled for chest X-ray and electrocardiogram to observe whether there is any problem with the heart or whether there is infection of the lung, pleurisy, or pleural effusion. Through the examination of the above mentioned departments, it is basically possible to rule out the presence of local related organ lesions. If present, appropriate treatment is required, such as cholelithiasis or cholecystitis, which may require removal of the gallbladder. If there is a lung infection, anti-infective treatment is required. And if there is pleural effusion, puncture and drainage by respiratory medicine or thoracic surgery may be required.
