Does the gut get angry?

”Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a condition that is now known to many patients. It refers to a syndrome of abnormal stool characteristics and changes in bowel habits, including abdominal pain and bloating. If there is an increase in the frequency of stools, loose stools, a sense of incomplete stools, bloating, abdominal pain before the stool is aggravated, but after the stool is relieved, it belongs to the irritable bowel syndrome diarrhea type. What many people do not understand is that the onset of this disease is partly caused by the “anger” of the intestines. Some patients may have experienced that when they are angry, stressed or excited, they react differently and choose to go to the bathroom first – because they have diarrhea. This is one of the characteristics of irritable bowel syndrome, namely the influence of emotional factors. When emotions change, the intestine responds accordingly, with peristalsis accelerating, intensifying and increasing in amplitude, which subsequently leads to the onset of diarrhea. In fact, several hundred years ago, Chinese medicine recognized this disease and called it “painful diarrhea”; in terms of treatment, there is naturally a “painful diarrhea formula”, which Chinese medicine believes is mainly caused by liver depression and spleen deficiency, but of course, this cannot be understood mechanically, as each person has its own specific situation. However, each person has its own specific situation and needs specific analysis and individualized treatment.
