The current HFMD vaccine was developed in China, and it mainly has a preventive effect against HFMD caused by enterovirus 71 infection, which generally requires two full doses of HFMD vaccine, and at about 28 days, it has an antibody turn-around rate of 88.1%-91.7%, with a protection rate of more than 90% for HFMD associated with enterovirus 71 infection. For its duration of action, because it was only officially launched in the first half of 2016, according to current studies, it still achieves an antibody protection rate of 85.7% 26 months after vaccination, which is very effective. The HFMD vaccine is only useful for HFMD caused by enterovirus 71 infection and is not effective for HFMD caused by other types of enterovirus infection.
