Acute appendicitis surgery will heal in a few days

The recovery time from acute appendicitis surgery depends on the patient’s own physical condition, the severity of the appendicitis, and the presence of postoperative complications. There are two types of surgery for acute appendicitis: minimally invasive appendectomy and open appendectomy. Minimally invasive appendiceal surgery is less traumatic to the body, and recovery is usually gradual in about 3-4 days. If the appendicitis is mild and there are no postoperative complications, the patient can recover in about 7 days; if the appendicitis is severe and the patient is combined with other underlying diseases and postoperative complications such as incisional infection or intestinal obstruction, the patient’s recovery time after surgery will be prolonged. Therefore, the patient’s specific recovery time should be decided according to the patient’s condition. After acute appendicitis surgery, patients are advised to get out of bed early, temporarily prohibit diet to prevent infection of the incision or other parts of the body, apply appropriate heat to the abdomen to promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, and then give a liquid diet after anal discharge and defecation.
