How long will Alzheimer’s live if they can’t eat nasal feedings?

How long an Alzheimer’s patient can live on nasal feeding when he or she is unable to eat varies from person to person, usually from a few days to a few years. If an Alzheimer’s patient is unable to eat by mouth and is fed a nasal diet, it is a sign that he or she is unable to take care of himself or herself and that the disease is in the middle to late stages. If the nutrition is adequate and there are no complications such as malnutrition, reflux, aspiration, infection, etc., the patient’s life expectancy will not be significantly shortened, but the opposite will be true. If the nasal feeding diet, but the intake is insufficient, resulting in serious nutritional disorders, and combined with secondary infection conditions, such as lung infection, bedsores and other conditions, can be life-threatening at any time; if the nutritional intake after the nasal feeding diet is good, without obvious complications, may survive for several years. The disease duration of Alzheimer’s patients is about 5 to 10 years, and a few patients can survive for 10 years or longer, mostly dying from complications such as lung infections, urinary tract infections and pressure sores.
