Chonglou is also known as seven leaves of one flower, Chonglou and seven leaves of one flower are the same kind of traditional Chinese medicine. Chonglou is the dried rhizome of Yunnan Chonglou (云南重楼) or Hedyotis diffusa (七叶一枝花), a plant of the lily family. The main medicinal properties of this product are bitter, slightly cold, with a small poison, into the liver meridian. It has the basic efficacy of clearing away heat and removing toxins, subduing swelling and relieving pain, cooling the liver and diarrhea, resting the wind and calming the alarm. It is mainly used for sores, carbuncles and swollen poisons, sore throat, children’s heat and wind (too much accumulation of heat will cause wind), bruises, blood stasis and swelling.
