Urination is generally able to return to normal after prostate enlargement surgery. After surgery, patients can usually urinate on their own after the catheter is removed; however, patients who experience abnormalities such as inability to urinate, weakness of urination, or bleeding may need to continue treatment. After prostate enlargement surgery, patients can resume urinating on their own after the catheter is removed 24 to 72 hours after surgery. However, if the patient develops abnormalities, the doctor needs to deal with them according to the situation. It may be related to incomplete removal of hyperplastic glands during surgery, secondary infection or other lesions, but most patients have a good prognosis. Within one month after the operation, patients should pay attention to avoid drinking and smoking, avoid heavy physical activities and lifting heavy objects, and avoid sexual intercourse within one month. If, after the operation, the patient has blood in urine, urgency, pain in urination, nocturia and other abnormalities, the patient should go to the regular hospital in time for follow-up treatment.
