High myopia has a high prevalence of about 1% of the population. High myopia can have many serious complications, most of which can lead to blindness, and is one of the common causes of blindness in adults, taking the 6th place among the blinding diseases in China. The main complications are: 1. Fundus lesions: retinal degeneration, retinal fissure formation, retinal detachment, macular degeneration, macular hemorrhage are the common serious complications of high myopia, which are the main causes of blindness. However, cataract surgery can not only improve vision to a certain extent, but also help to observe, detect and treat fundus lesions.
2.Posterior scleral staphyloma: It is mainly the thinning and backward expansion of the posterior sclera, which will cause tilted astigmatism of the retina and visual distortion, so some patients still have visual distortion after surgery.
3, Cataract: It is manifested as clouding of the lens and gradual blurring of vision, with nuclear and posterior subcapsular cataracts being more common.
4.Glaucoma: The damage to visual function caused by intraocular pressure in highly myopic eyes is often concealed by pathological myopia, so early diagnosis and early treatment are important.
5, vitreous clouding High myopia patients are often accompanied by vitreous clouding, patients often feel that there are black shadows in front of the eyes, black dots appear, a variety of shapes, reticular, dot-like more. Mild degree can be treated with medication, but serious cases need to be treated with surgery; after cataract surgery, vitreous clouding has not been improved, so vitreous clouding symptoms still exist, and even feel more obvious due to the improvement of vision after surgery, so the treatment of vitreous clouding still needs to be continued.
