Do you need to draw blood to check for H. pylori?

Checking H. pylori for blood testing, mainly through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for serology, this test is very important to detect H. pylori infection. The H. pylori blood test is mainly used to make a diagnosis by detecting antibodies in the blood, and the test is fast and inexpensive, making it a relatively easy test to be accepted by patients. What is important is the accuracy of the method, which is not affected by the use of drugs such as bleeding ulcers, gastric atrophy, antibiotics or proton pump inhibitors, an advantage that is unmatched by other methods. However, it should be noted that H. pylori antibody testing, is not usually used as the preferred test. The preferred test is the endoscopic rapid urease test, which, when combined with histological examination, improves the accuracy of diagnosis and is the gold standard for H. pylori screening.
