Small red dots inside the eye may be caused by subconjunctival hemorrhage, or a red foreign body, or it may be caused by vesicular conjunctivitis. If small red dots appear along with foreign body sensation and stinging, it may be a red foreign body and needs to be seen immediately at an outpatient ophthalmology clinic for detailed examination under a slit lamp. If it is determined to be a foreign body, it needs to be removed with a sterile cotton swab or needle after ordering surface anesthetic eye drops. If the eye is still significantly congested, it may also be vesicular conjunctivitis, which is related to fatigue, and appropriate treatment with hormonal eye drops, as well as artificial tear drops, is recommended. It may also be due to trauma or other causes, resulting in the rupture of small blood vessels under the conjunctiva, causing subconjunctival hemorrhage, which generally does not require disposal and can subside on its own after 3-7 days.
