Can multiple myeloma be cured?

Multiple myeloma a malignant plasma cell disease in which the tumor cells originate from plasma cells in the bone marrow. The main treatment options are chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The development of the disease is highly individualized, and patients with asymptomatic multiple myeloma may not even require treatment. Some patients can be cured, but there is significant individualized variability, and some patients have a poor prognosis. The goal of treatment is to control the disease, improve symptoms, and improve quality of life. If relapse occurs during treatment the prognosis is often poor.
