What’s going on with the thick pancreatic echoes?

Pancreatic echogenicity is considered to be related to chronic pancreatitis and diffuse pancreatic cancer.
1. Chronic pancreatitis: the disease is related to long-term alcohol consumption, group B coxsackie virus infection, genetic factors, bile and pancreatic duct stenosis or obstruction. When the patient goes to the doctor for ultrasonography, the pancreas can be seen to be thickly echogenic, and the main pancreatic duct is also prone to be narrowed or irregularly dilated and so on. When patients do abdominal CT examination, calcified foci and stone shadows can be seen in the pancreatic area.
2. Diffuse pancreatic cancer: it belongs to one kind of pancreatic cancer, the cause of which is not clear yet, but it may be related to long-term heavy smoking, heavy drinking and exposure to chemical harmful substances. Usually, when patients go to the doctor for ultrasonography, it can be seen that the pancreas is diffusely enlarged, with abnormal morphology and irregular edge. At the same time, the internal echogenicity is uneven, and coarse hyperechoic spots can be seen.
It is recommended that the person with thick echogenicity of the pancreas should have further detailed examination in order to clarify the disease and then follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment. Pay attention to the rationality of daily diet, avoid overeating or spicy food.
