It is not clinically recommended that patients apply cupping to treat shingles. Herpes zoster is a common skin disease caused by infection with the varicella-zoster virus. The vast majority of patients with shingles can achieve good results with regular antiviral treatment, especially if they start regular treatment early, the sooner the neuralgia attacks can be effectively controlled. When patients with shingles take cupping for treatment, often after shingles treatment is over, they can consider applying cupping and other methods for relief in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia. Generally, cupping is not the first choice in the formal treatment of shingles.
