Coronary artery stenting, also commonly known as heart stenting, is a better treatment for current coronary artery disease and is characterized as minimally invasive. The basic principle of coronary stenting is to puncture through the femoral artery and deliver a stent to the narrowed or occluded lesion of the coronary artery with a special catheter and guidewire under X-ray fluoroscopy, using the principle of stent expansion to prop up the narrowed vessel wall in order to promote the restoration of blood flow. Coronary stent implantation is characterized by no need for chest opening, local anesthesia and fast recovery, but it is limited to short-segment lesions only, and is not suitable for long-segment multiple lesions.
