Why does cancer recur after an operation – cancer again

The pathological type was “hepatocellular carcinoma”, that is, it was caused by the malignant transformation of normal liver cells. However, this time the pathological type was “cholangiocarcinoma”, which was caused by the malignant transformation of normal bile duct cells in the liver. This means that the first cancer and the second recurrence of cancer are very different and belong to two types of cancer. The common trilogy of liver cancer in China: Hepatitis B → cirrhosis → liver cancer. China is a country with very high incidence of cirrhosis in the world, especially the incidence of cirrhosis combined with liver cancer after hepatitis B is as high as about 90%. Liver cirrhosis mainly forms “sclerotic nodules”, which are prone to malignant transformation into cancer cells, so they are often referred to as “precancerous lesions”. After surgery to remove the cancerous mass, even though there are no cancer cells left, the environment (soil) of the liver has not changed and cirrhosis still exists, the cirrhotic nodules will still become cancerous, which will lead to recurrence. Once cirrhotic nodules appear, it is important to pay attention to them, timely and adhere to TCM with treatment to reduce the risk of cancer. There are many patients and family members who think that it is impossible for the human body to have two or more types of cancer, or simply do not think about this aspect. In fact, when the human body has already suffered from one kind of cancer, the probability of developing cancer again is many times higher than that of normal people, even if the cancer is removed by open surgery. The cancer again may be a different cell cancer from the first one, which is the second cancer, or it may be a cancer of the same cells as the first one. In general, surgical residuals and early blood entry are the main causes of cancer recurrence after surgery, while mother-child imbalance and recurrent cancer are relatively less common.
