Chronic sinusitis, also known as chronic purulent sinusitis. It is often caused by repeated episodes of acute purulent sinusitis that have not been properly treated. The main clinical symptoms are mucus or purulent nasal discharge, nasal congestion, headache and loss of smell. The most common symptoms are nasal congestion, pus flow, runny nose and decreased olfactory function. In Chinese medicine, it belongs to the category of nasal abnormalities. Its etiology and pathogenesis in acute cases are mostly due to the feeling of wind-heat evil or wind-cold evil into the heat, heat toxicity, cloudy snot blocking the nasal orifices. In chronic cases, due to the weakness of the spleen and lung, the lung is not strong enough to defend the outside of the body, and it is easy to feel the evil of wind-heat and wind-cold; the spleen is deficient in transporting and transforming, and the phlegm and turbidity stagnates and stays in the nasal passages, corroding the mucous membrane of the sinuses and becoming “nasal abyss”. Because of its anatomical characteristics, the incomplete treatment of acute sinusitis can easily lead to a “resurgence” of the lesion and recurrent attacks into chronic sinusitis. The clinical data of this group of 30 cases are all outpatient cases, among which, 19 cases are male and 11 cases are female. The main ingredients of Xuanlung Tongkou formula granules: Fangfeng, Mustard, Xingyi, Cangerzi, Angelica dahurica, Angelica sinensis, Chuanxiong, Lianxiao, Hessian and Licorice (produced by Sanjiu Pharmaceutical Company). Diagnostic criteria: Refer to the criteria recommended by the International Conference on Sinusitis held in the United States in 1993. (1) Adults: Symptoms and signs lasting 8 weeks or 4 episodes per year, each lasting at least 10 days and after 4 weeks of conservative medical treatment, with persistent positive findings on CT scan of the sinuses. (2) Children: Signs and symptoms lasting 12 years or 6 episodes per year, each lasting at least 10 days and after 4 weeks of conservative medical treatment, with persistent positive findings on CT scan of the sinuses. Method: Put the above formula pellets into a container, add 200ml of boiling water, put it on the stove or induction cooker, heat it on low heat, and suck the medicine into the nose about 40cm vertically from the nose to be able to tolerate it, especially if there is a lot of pus or mucus-like secretion coming out of the nose during the smoking process, about 10 minutes, about 100ml of the medicine is left, put the medicine to the right temperature and take it orally, once in the morning and once in the evening. 10 days for a course of treatment. Precautions: 1, the smoke can not be too close or too far away, near the easy steam burns, far is less effective. 2, with hypertension or cardiovascular disease should not use this method to prevent accidents. Efficacy criteria: 1. cure: clinical symptoms disappear, nasal cavity and sinus mucosa return to normal. 2. improve: pus snot is reduced, headache and nasal congestion are alleviated, and sense of smell is improved. 2. Results: After 2-3 courses of treatment, 23 cases were cured and 7 cases were improved, including 19 cases in men, 14 cases were cured and 5 cases were improved; 11 cases in women, 8 cases were cured and 3 cases were improved. Discussion: Because of the anatomical characteristics of the sinuses, it is difficult to reach the general drugs, so the effect is poor. And surgical puncture and drainage is more painful to human body on the one hand, and easy to recur on the other hand. The drug decoction produces drug steam, which can reach the sinuses, and the ultramicroscopic molecules of the drug can enter through the steam to promote blood circulation in the nasal cavity and sinuses, sterilize and detoxify, eliminate swelling, and drainage, so that the inflammatory substances are thoroughly excreted, creating a clean environment for the nasal cavity and sinuses, and nourishing and promoting the regeneration of sinus mucosal cells, so that the broken mucosa can be repaired. At the same time, a dense protective film is formed on the surface of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and sinuses, which can effectively avoid the stimulation of allergens, cold air and germs, and improve the immune ability of the body of sinusitis patients, which is less likely to recur after cure. The treatment method can clear heat and detoxify, drain pus and open the orifice, and improve the microcirculation of nasal mucosa well with stasis-clearing drugs. Only when the pus in the sinuses is cleared, the inflammation in the nasal cavity is eliminated and the microcirculation of the nasal mucosa is improved, the immunity of the nasal cavity can be enhanced with the ability to resist diseases.
