Pain after wisdom tooth extraction can be relieved by applying an ice cube wrapped in a towel externally to the cheek on the side of the extraction, or by holding ice in the mouth. If the pain is still unbearable on the day after surgery or the next day, you can also take oral medication such as ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms. If the pain persists for 2 to 3 days, further self-treatment is not recommended and prompt medical attention should be sought.
