Superficial atrophic gastritis can be divided into chronic superficial gastritis and chronic atrophic gastritis. Superficial gastritis is not serious in most cases, or with varying degrees of erosion, which is slightly more serious; atrophic gastritis is generally not serious after active treatment, but is more serious when accompanied by intestinal metaplasia, heterotrophic hyperplasia and other conditions. Most of the chronic superficial gastritis is caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, so the eradication of Helicobacter pylori has a better prognosis, and most cases are not serious; however, chronic superficial gastritis with erosion may cause upper gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia and other conditions, which are more serious, and the treatment is generally better after active cooperation. The prognosis of chronic atrophic gastritis after active treatment is still good, so most cases are not serious; however, if accompanied by intestinal epithelial hyperplasia, heterogeneous hyperplasia and other conditions progress, it may eventually develop into gastric cancer, which is more serious. After diagnosis of chronic superficial gastritis or chronic atrophic gastritis, one should actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment, which can help improve the prognosis.
