E antigen-positive patients: after reaching HBV DNA below the lower limit of detection, ALT normalization and HBeAg serological conversion, and then consolidating for at least 1 year (after at least two re-examinations, each with an interval of 6 months) and remaining unchanged, and the total course of treatment has reached at least 2 years, can consider discontinuing the drug, but extending the course of treatment can reduce relapse. E antigen negative patients: after reaching HBV DNA below the lower limit of detection and normal ALT, at least 1.5 years of consolidation (after at least 3 retests, each at an interval of 6 months) remains unchanged, and the total course of treatment has reached at least 2.5 years, can be considered to discontinue the drug. Due to the high rate of relapse after discontinuation, the course of treatment can be extended. However, it should be reminded that the relapse rate is very high if the above criteria are not met; even if the above criteria are met, there is still a possibility of relapse if the drug is discontinued. Therefore, when the physical condition and economic situation is possible, try to extend the duration of treatment to reduce relapse; if you must stop the drug, you also need to monitor closely and actively treat again once relapse occurs.
