Ye Xiazhu has the main treatment for dysentery, diarrhea, jaundice, edema, heat drench (burning stinging pain when urinating, with frequent urination, urgency, abdominal traction discomfort), stone drench (discharge of gravel when urinating, or sudden interruption of urination, pain in the urethra, lumbar and abdominal cramps intolerable) and other effects.
Leaf under the pearl, bitter taste, cool nature; to the liver, spleen, kidney meridian. It is the whole grass with root of the plant of Euphorbiaceae. It has the effect of clearing away heat and removing toxins, inducing diuresis to eliminate swelling, improving eyesight, and eliminating stagnation. Contraindications for use, adverse reactions are not clear.
Leaf under the pearl can also be used for eye redness, night blindness, pediatric chancre (a kind of children’s chronic disease, manifested as wasting, abnormal diet, abdominal distension, hair thinning yellow), carbuncle, venomous snake bites and so on.
For jaundice, it can be combined with vervain and hemiptera; for hepatitis, it can be used with yellow bile herb; for night blindness, it can be used with atractylodes macrocephala.
