Pediatric Tourette Syndrome is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder that affects boys between the ages of 4 and 12 years old and is associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and behavioral problems. Children with Tourette’s Syndrome twitch uncontrollably and often make obscene or violent screaming noises during the twitching process. This disorder wreaks havoc on a child’s development, and to date the triggering factors for the disorder remain unclear and may be related to family genetics and physiological biochemistry. The symptoms of pediatric tic disorder are very diverse, with different areas of twitching and very different forms of expression, such as blinking, squinting in a certain direction, pouting, shaking the head, shrugging, etc. Some children also appear to imitate others, and may imitate people’s language, movements, expressions, etc. The disorder can be mild or severe, and is often unstable.
