How long does it take to get a period after a curettage

How long it takes to have a period after a curettage depends on how well the woman recovers after the curettage and on her menstrual cycle. The vast majority of women have a menstrual flow 1 month after the procedure, but a small percentage of patients may not experience a menstrual flow until 2-3 months later. The curettage procedure is disruptive to the endometrium, but does not affect ovarian function. Bleeding occurs the day after the curettage and may last for about 1 week in patients. Usually, most patients resume menstrual flow in about 35-40 days after curettage. Individual patients with amenorrhea due to nervousness, stress, and uterine recovery may also experience delayed menstruation, which may be delayed for several days or even months. Depending on the individual’s constitution, early periods may also occur. According to the literature, the average time for menstrual recovery after curettage is 33.8 days, with the earliest being 13 days after surgery and the latest being 113 days after surgery, and 78.5% of those who recovered their menstruation within 30 days after delivery. In addition, patients should rest properly after curettage, avoid long-term bed rest, and avoid straining. Sexual intercourse, tub bathing and swimming are prohibited for 2 weeks after surgery, and antibiotics will be given to prevent infection at the doctor’s discretion.
