What is the mid-stage cure program for esophageal cancer

Intermediate stage esophageal cancer includes stage II and stage III, and the treatment modalities include surgery, neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery, radical radiotherapy, synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Among them, stage II esophageal squamous carcinoma with staging of cT2N0M0 is preferred to be treated with surgery, and neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery is recommended for cT2N1M0 and cT3N0M0 stages. Stage II esophageal adenocarcinoma staged at cT2N0M0 stage is preferred to surgical treatment, cT1N1M0 stage is recommended to neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgical treatment. If the cardiopulmonary function is poor or the patient refuses surgery, radical radiotherapy is feasible, and preoperative neoadjuvant therapy includes concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery is recommended for stage 3 squamous esophageal cancer or adenocarcinoma. If the cardiopulmonary function is poor or the patient refuses surgery, radical radiotherapy is feasible, and the preoperative neoadjuvant treatment includes concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy. For inoperable stage III patients, the current standard treatment is concurrent radiotherapy. Early detection of esophageal cancer has the possibility of cure, and should go to the hospital as soon as possible for treatment under the guidance of doctors.
