The presence of a yellow runny nose with a cold indicates a bacterial cold. A cold is an inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, including the nasal cavity and throat, caused by a bacterial infection. When bacterial infection occurs in the nasal cavity, the nasal cavity will be congested and edematous, and will also secrete certain inflammatory exudates. Neutrophils and phagocytes in the body will also gather at the inflammation site to engulf foreign bacteria, and these cells will undergo lysis and necrosis, and as these inflammatory exudates mix together, yellow nasal discharge is formed. Antibiotics are needed for anti-inflammatory treatment to be effective. If the baby does not have penicillin allergy, amoxicillin or amoxicillin clavulanic acid potassium can be used for treatment, and if it is an adult, these two drugs are also safe to use. If there is no allergy to cephalosporins, either for adults or children, cefixime granules can be used and the effect is also better. If there are allergies to all of the above drugs, azithromycin can also be used for treatment.
