Jan. 20 (Xinhua) — A young woman who had been suffering from epilepsy for six years recently underwent surgery at the Epilepsy Surgery Center of the city hospital and was completely cured of her condition. The surgery was the first of its kind in the city, with experts combining five difficult procedures. The patient had intractable epilepsy with an intracranial right temporal lobe mass, so the professor of the Epilepsy Surgery Center performed the surgery in one craniotomy, combining five surgical procedures: right temporal lobe mass resection, anterior temporal lobectomy, amygdala resection, hippocampal resection and horizontal fibrillotomy of the epileptic focus. After the operation, the patient did not have any complications such as neurological impairment of the brain and did not have any more seizures.
