Tranexamic acid can treat melasma. Tranexamic acid is a commonly used hemostatic drug in clinical practice, which can play the role of melanin removal and actually reduce melanin formation, so tranexamic acid tablets can be used in clinical practice for melasma treatment. Because of its strong hemostatic effect, tranexamic acid should not be used in the treatment of melasma in patients with obvious impairment of liver or kidney function, or in patients with previous history of thrombosis or family history of thrombosis, or in patients who are menstruating, lactating or pregnant. Tranexamic acid tablets need to be taken orally for a long period of time without interruption in order to provide effective relief for melasma. Therefore, tranexamic acid tablets do have good advantages in the treatment of melasma, but also have its disadvantages.
