Tic disorders in children are motor and vocal muscle spasms that occur mostly in childhood and manifest mainly as involuntary, stereotyped movements. Tics in children with a duration of 1 month to 1 year are called transient tic disorders, and those with a duration of more than 1 year are called chronic tic disorders. There are many times when young children have tics, and different symptoms suggest different disorders. There are many causes of twitching, some may be normal and some may be signs of epilepsy. Those with mild symptoms can be cured with treatment, and those that are stubborn can extend to several years or even continue into adulthood. Since the causes of convulsions vary, there is no specific time frame for treatment. In order to treat the child completely, we must first find out the cause of the child’s convulsions, and diagnose the cause according to the child’s symptomatology with blood tests and brain CT. If it is caused by low calcium, encephalitis, meningitis, etc., the child’s convulsions can be treated symptomatically according to the related diseases, and generally the child’s convulsions can be treated after removing the primary cause. If the convulsions are caused by epileptic seizures, the treatment process may take longer. If the child has frequent convulsions, shaking and other symptoms it should be noticed that the convulsions may be caused by seizures and the child should be taken to the hospital for EEG and other examinations as soon as possible for early detection and early treatment. After 2 to 5 years of treatment, 75% to 80% of children with epilepsy can be effectively controlled or even cured. During the treatment process, parents should fully cooperate with the doctor, be patient, and encourage their baby more to build their confidence in curing the disease.
