Mixed masses are usually found during an ultrasound or CT or MRI that reveals abnormal-like growths in the tissues and organs of the body that result in the presentation of a mixed mass. Mixed masses are usually found in the ovaries, uterus, adnexa, or in the urinary tract breasts and other organs that can have mixed mass growths. The most likely cause of a mixed mass is an inflammatory infection, such as an inflammatory mass that appears diffuse, encapsulated, or oozing with an echo of a mixed mass. Another possible cause of a mixed mass is a tumor, such as a mixture of benign neoplastic hyperplasia and malignant carcinoma, both of which may appear on ultrasound or CT and MRI imaging with a mixed mass report finding.
