How to give first aid to a choking baby

Choking in infants is one of the more common and urgent situations, and family members should know the basic first aid methods, such as rapidly striking the infant’s abdomen with the hand, thus generating a large amount of airflow to shock the food out of the baby, thus relieving the symptoms of obstruction. Alternatively, the infant can be placed on the bed, with the hands pinched at the waist and the thumbs quickly hit the child’s abdomen, which will also produce a large amount of airflow to wash away the food. Coughing can also be stimulated by holding the infant by the ankles so that the head is facing downwards and then slapping the back, thus coughing up the food through the air currents. Avoid giving chunks of food to the infant, such as chunks of chocolate, apples, etc. This is mainly due to the poor chewing and swallowing function, which makes choking easy. If the above methods are ineffective, the baby should go to the hospital for consultation, and the food should be taken out directly, usually with a direct view of the mirror, or through a balloon.
