What types of hypopharyngeal cancer are there?

Hypopharyngeal carcinoma is divided into three types: pyriform fossa carcinoma, carcinoma of the posterior wall of hypopharynx and carcinoma of the posterior cricoid region.
1. Pear-shaped fossa cancer: mainly located on both sides of the larynx, migrating from the epiglottic folds downward to the post-circumferential esophagus, which may manifest as early submucosal diffuse infiltration.
2. Carcinoma of the posterior wall of hypopharynx: including the outer wall and the posterior wall, infiltrating along the submucosa to the periphery.
3. Carcinoma of the posterior ring region: occurring in the posterior region of the ring cartilage, with localized invasive expansion.
Early symptoms of hypopharyngeal cancer are not obvious, which can be manifested as foreign body sensation in the throat, choking in swallowing. With the gradual increase of tumor, ulceration occurs on the surface to cause pain in swallowing, which radiates to pain in the ear, difficulty in swallowing, blood in sputum, hoarseness, difficulty in breathing and other symptoms.
For hypopharyngeal cancer, it is recommended to seek medical treatment as early as possible and standardize the treatment under the guidance of physicians to avoid delaying the condition.
