The most painful day of breastfeeding in general

Returning breast milk can cause breast swelling and pain, usually most painful on days 3-6. Breastfeeding women who do not want to continue breastfeeding will need to return the milk completely. During the milk return process, because milk continues to be produced but cannot be drained, breast swelling and pain will occur, usually lasting for about 10 days, usually peaking on days 3-6. The milk secretion will gradually decrease around 7 days and the breast pain will be relieved gradually. In most cases, milk secretion will stop around 10 days after breastfeeding. If the local swelling and pain is obvious and nodules can be palpated by hand, then inflammation of the breast is considered and the patient should go to the hospital as soon as possible for appropriate examination and antibiotic treatment if necessary. Patients with uncontrolled inflammation may suffer from localized sepsis, which may require incision and drainage. It is recommended that women eat a light diet, reduce drinking water and soup during breastfeeding. Vitamin B6 can be given orally, fried malt as a tea substitute, and external application of mangosteen to reduce breast swelling and pain.
