How long does the choking sensation last in the early stage of esophageal cancer

  There is no definite data to show how long the choking sensation can be maintained in the early stage of esophageal cancer.  Choking sensation in the process of eating is a common manifestation of early stage of esophageal cancer, which is closely related to the clinical characteristics of esophageal cancer. In patients with esophageal cancer, due to the growth of tumor into the lumen or the thickening of esophageal wall, the movement of esophagus may become stiff and cause the narrowing of lumen, which will obstruct the passage of food, thus patients will have choking sensation. There are no specific clinical statistics on how long the choking sensation can last in early stage of esophageal cancer. It is recommended that patients with choking sensation should go to gastroenterology department of hospital for corresponding examination, such as gastroscopy and barium meal esophagogram, in order to determine whether it is caused by esophageal cancer.  Esophageal cancer is more likely to occur in patients who like to eat hot food and coarse food for a long time, as well as those who drink strong tea and eat irritating food such as chili pepper.
