What does a lamellar hypoechoic area in the breast mean?

A lamellar hypoechoic area in the breast is considered to be a localized cyst due to cystic hyperplasia of the breast, which is a benign lesion and can be observed clinically. If the grading is below grade 3, ultrasound should be reviewed every 1 year, and mammogram should be reviewed every 2 years for women over 35 years old. If the grading is above grade 4, attention needs to be paid to the possibility of malignant transformation and the review time should be shortened. Breast ultrasound should be reviewed once every 3 months, and in case of dense breast, breast MRI is required. If the lamellar hypoechogenicity appears during breastfeeding, it is considered to be caused by milk stagnation. If it is accompanied by breast swelling and fever, it should be considered to be caused by acute mastitis, early local heat compress, stop breastfeeding on the affected side, suction breast pump to suck up the milk, oral antibacterial medication, if the abscess forms, it needs to be surgically incised and drained, post-operative incision change, intravenous antibacterial medication can be applied.
